For Wizards Only

We started in Newbury Park, CA. In my Bedroom Studio in the Fall of  2016. I had just graduated High School in June and was starting to look to put together a new group. Kevin reached out to me and mentioned that he still wanted to work together so, I approached him about this concept I had for a Jazz Fusion-Style Group with Horns, Guitar Solos, Improvisation, and a more Orchestral approach with a Full-Length Album that we'd record ourselves. I had almost everything written already and was still writing for it, and I even wanted them to contribute their own Compositions as well so we could have a more well-rounded sound. We then recruited a drummer that I went to High School with, Tyler Mackinga. Tyler and I never knew each other back then, but when we started playing together, it just clicked. Kevin, Tyler, and Myself  would get together, Hangout, Jam, and then I'd teach them a song. Once we started looking for a keyboardist, Kevin met Sam at a friend's birthday and that's when the first official line-up of the Core Band was complete.We four got together and the sound just poured out of us. For awhile we didn't have a name and didn't even think to call ourselves anything until the question arose. Somehow we agreed on an idea, quoted from the FX Series, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. The Shady Nasties (Shadynastys). An odd name, but we were having fun just Jamming and getting the music down.

During Practice at Kevin's one evening, because we had been there every week, Kevin attached a piece of paper to our Practice Room door with the words, "4 Wizards Only." (in reference to the series "Adventure Time"), And the name stuck.
